A truly dynamic museum, the galleries and exhibits of the Tubac Center of the Arts never stick around for long. Rather than maintain a permanent collection, the Tubac rotates galleries of five or six local artists every month so that Tubac Art Center-members and the public always have something new to see.

Along with this ever-moving exhibit, you'll also enjoy jubilant performance events and fascinating lectures if your timing is right. From festive swing shows to exploratory lectures of modern art to full on musical theatre, there's always a surprise in store.

Drive the other way up Interstate 19 and you'll find the Tucson Museum of Art, one of the most popular Tucson museums. The TMA is more traditional in design, but the charm and impact of the exhibits can't be denied. A collection of over 7,000 pieces populate three primary galleries.
The rugged, sun-drenched life of the cowboy is on full display in the expansive American West exhibit. Art of the Americas features pre-Columbian, Native American art from as far back as 500 B.C. along with extensive folk art collections from former Spanish and Portuguese colonies. Since the 1970's, the Tucson Museum of Art has also been developing a respected collection of modern and contemporary pieces from around the globe but focusing on European and American artists.

The Museum is located near Tucson's Historic Block, a collection of five buildings that once stood within the walled fortress that became Tucson. The museum provides docent-led tours of the block free with your admission to the museum. Tours meet in the lobby.
