Arizona Vineyards
As you drive along the Patagonia-Sonoita Scenic Road through the Santa Rita Mountains, be sure to stop at the colorful building that marks the Arizona Vineyards. Exuding the feel of a charming antique winery, the building houses wooded casks, wine artifacts, sculptures and paintings. Visitors should try uniquely-named wines such as Desert Dust, Coyote Red and Rattlesnake Red among others.
Callaghan Vineyards
For an enchanting wine tasting experience, take a trip to highly-acclaimed Callaghan Vineyards. Here, you will have the opportunity to enjoy a tasting with Mr. Kent Callaghan himself, the owner and founder of this vineyard. Releasing its first vintage in 1991, the wines produced at this vineyard have received positive reactions by critics from New York and Paris, making this 25-acre vineyard one of best in the country. Sonoita Vineyards
When making plans to take vineyard tours in Arizona, putting Sonoita Vineyards on your list is a must. In 1979, Dr. Gordon Dutt, the vineyard’s founder, planted the seeds for the first commercial vineyard in Arizona and then opened the first winery in Arizona’s Appellations Sonoita in 1983. Currently, the vineyard produces more than 10,000 gallons each year and encompasses 20 acres of vines and is known for its award-winning Cabernet Sauvignons. The winery is perched atop a hill overlooking the vineyard and includes 5,000 square feet of tasting and event facilities. The Village of Elgin Winery
This winery operates in the traditional style, hand harvesting, sorting and stomping grapes harvested strictly from the Southern Arizona region. This family-owned operation is known for producing a wonderful Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Colombard, Merlot, Sangiovese, Sauvignon Blanc and Syrah which are aged in French Oak, Hungarian Oak, Italian Chestnut and Stainless Steel.
